Paige Williams Harris graduated from the Savannah
College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in painting
and art history. Painting mostly in oils, Harris
renders her subject matter in a painterly, neo-impressionistic
style.
In her current work, Harris’ series Quiet
Dignity depicts the acceptance, beauty and
work ethic of southern farmwomen in the early 20th
century. Giving dignity to these women with calloused
hands and neatly coifed hair while they labor physically,
Harris reveals their strength and courage. With
simple poses in fields of cotton and tobacco, Harris
juxtaposes active brushwork and high-key palettes
with the contemplative nature of her subject matter.
Harris also paints oil portraits
by commission. In addition to oil paintings, Harris
enjoys mixed media and decorative work and creates
original personalized children’s art.
